TOXIC GASES CONTINUE TO INCREASE IN GULF AIR

READING OF 14ppm for VOC Gases enters Zone of
"Significant Potential Health Risks" for Humans

Toxic gases continue to increase in air above Gulf coast cities. On May 23 EPA the data collection station in Venice, Louisiana recorded a reading of 14ppm for volatile organic compounds (VOC) in the air.  The National Resources Defense Council registers a reading of 14ppm for VOC gases to be in the highest danger zone on its VOC gases scale which measures potential threats to human health.

The NRDC scale registers VOC gases above 10ppm as "Significant Potential for Health Risks." The reading of 14ppm at Venice indicates an increase in the trend line for the volatile organic compounds.

During the first three weeks of May the level of EPA recorded readings for VOC gases in Venice and near New Orleans were in the 4 to 10 zone of "Possible Health Risks"

VOC gases include some of the most toxic and potentially most deadly of the many gases are make up crude oil as it enters the Gulf waters and air along the coastline.

These are the gases discussed by Mike Siegel and Dan Youra on Lars Larson National Radio Show on Memorial Day.

  1. This is a sad state of affairs. The air and the water is contaminated so badly tat life is endangered. And there seems to be little solution to clear the water from the oil that is already spilled in there.
